West Slope: open Tianchi perspective
The West Slope is known for a broad Tianchi viewpoint and a more open alpine feel. Reaching the main viewpoint traditionally involves a substantial stair climb, so mobility matters.
Which is better for a first trip?
If you want the most varied day and are visiting only one slope, North is the safer recommendation. If your priority is the West Slope viewpoint and you are comfortable with the climb, West can be more appealing.
Do both only if the trip allows
Trying to force both into a very short trip can create unnecessary transfers. With three or more days, combining them becomes more practical, especially if weather flexibility matters.
