Erdaobaihe: best North Slope base
This is the most practical town base for first-time North Slope visitors. It has restaurants, local services and easy access to Changbaishan Railway Station.
West Slope resort zone
Choose the resort side if skiing, upscale resort facilities or West Slope access is central. It is also more convenient for Changbaishan Airport than Erdaobaihe.
Songjianghe
Songjianghe can be a practical local base between rail/road connections and the West Slope area. Compare the hotel’s actual map position rather than relying on a broad location label.
Should you split your stay?
If visiting both North and West slopes, one hotel change can save several hours of repeated driving. Pack light enough to make the transfer easy.
Hotel questions worth asking
Ask about scenic-area transfers, railway/airport pickup, breakfast timing, luggage storage and whether winter transfers require advance reservation.
Do not chase a cheap room on the wrong side
A lower room rate can be erased by long private transfers. Evaluate total trip cost and time, not hotel price alone.
