Why choose North Slope
It combines the signature crater viewpoint with waterfall, geothermal and forest scenery, so the day still has variety if clouds block Tianchi.
Typical route logic
Follow the scenic area’s current transfer sequence. In general, prioritize any time-sensitive summit transfer when conditions are favorable, then work through lower stops.
Walking difficulty
There is still walking, stairs and uneven ground, but the route is generally easier for mixed-age groups than the West Slope summit staircase.
How long to allow
Treat it as a full day rather than a quick lake stop. Internal transfers and queues can take time, especially in peak season.
Where to stay
Erdaobaihe is the practical base. Arrive the day before so transport delays do not interfere with a reserved entry window.
Weather backup
If the summit closes, ask what lower attractions remain open. Do not immediately abandon the entire day without checking the current operating situation.
