Changbaishan International Resort in detail
This is the region's flagship ski area. Trails are graded by colour from beginner to advanced, and several advanced runs were built to competition standard. Beginners get "magic carpet" practice zones. Hotels at the resort range from international brands to mid-range, and several are within walking distance of the base area. Outside skiing, there are snow parks, sledding and hot springs.
Club Med Changbaishan in detail
Opened in 2022, Club Med Changbaishan packages ski lessons, lift access, meals and a large indoor hot-spring area into one stay. The slopes are gentler and smaller, which makes it one of the easiest places in China to learn. It's roughly 30–40 minutes from the airport. Families should read our family resorts guide.

Getting there
Fly to Changbaishan Airport (NBS), with seasonal direct flights from cities such as Beijing, or travel by rail and road via Changchun. The high-speed train goes to Changbaishan Station in Erdaobaihe on the North Slope side, which leaves a long road transfer to the ski area. For skiing, flying to NBS is usually simpler. Practical ski tips
- Beginners: book lessons early for holiday periods, and choose a hotel close to the practice areas.
- Rentals: renting skis and boots locally is easier than flying with them. Bring your own base layers, gloves, goggles and face protection.
- Cold: mid-winter temperatures are severe. Carry spare phone power, because batteries drain fast.
- Adding Tianchi: give it a separate day. Scenic-area timing and weather make a same-day "ski in the morning, summit in the afternoon" plan unrealistic.
- Recovery: hot springs pair perfectly with skiing. Drink water and keep soaks moderate after a hard day.
- Luggage: confirm that your transfer vehicle can fit ski bags before you arrive.
